This can be a complicated thing to work out, but generally:
If you are selling only Intra-provincially there are some provisions of the SFCR and the SFCA that you must comply with.
If you sell inter-provincially you must comply with all requirements of the SFCR and SFCA. This includes HACCP certification for specific food products.
Most other certifications are customer and growth driven. If you want to export your product out of country, sell in major grocery stores across the country, or offer co-packing opportunities for additional revenue, having GFSI certification is the most helpful solution in most cases.
